Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath - published 80 years ago today - [goodnewsnetwork.org]
The book was so good - that it prompted me to read ALL of his books. (Well - everyone our grade school library had onhand!)
Steinbeck and Upton Sinclair were among the first writers to warn us about the perils of mechanized agriculture. Gotta love them both!!
Good book, but it veers too much into preaching for my taste. (Not religion, but politics.) His case was stated well enough by the fictional situations in my opinion.
@Allamanda Good point, though I don't think my attention span's at fault. It's probably more a matter of modern taste, at least for me.
