In the aftermath of the Notre-Dame cathedral fire, I have these observations and questions:
What reason will xtians invent to explain why gawd inflicted such dammage on such ancient and sacred building during the week prior to easter?
Billionaires and countries are pledging funds totalling more than 1B euros currently for the rebuild, this before the insurance assessment and pay out is not completed. The catholic church being so wealthy, do they actually need financial help? (doesn't the cathedral generate profits?)
There is currently not enough large mature oak trees in France to replace the wooden roof structure, called the forest. With the current state of our environment and forest around the world, rebuilding that structure out of old growth trees would be in itself an environmental impact hard to ignore.
Come to think of it is the cathedral still a place of worship or more a tourist attraction? Is the rebuilding a pious religious necessity or an economical one?
enquiring mind wants to know (not!)
Great questions!! I think some other product besides wood needs to be used. Like harvest all that plastic out in the ocean and recycle it to form the "lumber" needed to recreate this structure. It then truly would be a nod to respecting the environment (ya know the thing God created) we all in live within.
It's all part of Gods plan
The biggest lie in the Christian pantheon.
If you have free will, truly. Then God cannot have a plan.
It was scheduled to be destroyed in the upcoming appocolyps anyways. The timetable was just moved up.
It sickens me how much money was raised in such a short time, considering all the other things people desperately need - their only fault not being a historical icon.
