I really like a sentiment of Lawrence Krauss."Forget Jesus, the stars died for us." I designed a tattoo to express that thought. It is the only one that I have.

You must admit that inanimate objects don't have the concept of self-sacrifice. The idea about Jesus was that somebody sentient cared enough to give his life for the sake of humankind. I don't believe it's true and I doubt the logic of the sacrifice but Krauss is being very disingenuous claiming stars are self-sacrificing.

I do not think he was suggesting that stars were self sacrificing or sentient. He was just stating the fact that stars did explode and create the heavier elements which made life possible and not Jesus' mythical sacrifice. I do not believe any physicist, including Krauss, would conclude that stars made a choice to self sacrifice.

He probably should have made a scientic statement in a scientific, professional way and not try to anthropomorphise stars just to get a dig in at religion.
