Dammit, why does my library have to be closed on Easter Sunday? I have time this Sunday to get some homework done and would prefer to do it at the library. The community college which I attend is presumably a secular institution.
Rhetorical question, of course. I am just venting.
Does no harm. If we didn’t have these old religious holy days as holidays, then we’d have virtually no public holidays and then have to invent a bunch of new ones. If we didn’t then workers would be even more exploited than they are at present. Maybe you can spare the time from your studies to take the day off too. Btw I don’t believe any libraries are open any Sunday in the UK, so Easter Sunday would be no different from all the rest.
Some companies are moving towards personal, or floating holidays. You get x amount of days off and take them when you see fit, choosing to celebrate the holidays you want.
Here in the US, county library hours vary by community. Some are open on most Sundays. Some are not open on Sundays. Certainly school libraries are generally accessible on Sundays.
