I stepped away from this app for a while. Thought I'd drop in and see what's new. I was really hoping to see new members when I browse nearby. But nope. I wish there was a larger non-believer community close by. <sigh>

Yes well living in Kansas is not really the way to broaden your non-religious views. Kinda hard to find a date as well!

I live in Huntsville, Alabama which has one of the highest PhD per capita in the nation (mostly rocket scientists, literally) and there is no problem finding atheist or agnostic friends here. C’mon down, y’all!

This is exactly why I asked my initial question about how to bring closet atheists/agnostics out of the closet! It's a problem.

not many around here either.

Hmmm, I have had the same problem.

Yes, there are meetups groups, but in the South they are weak. I lived in Portland and found the humanist group there to be gigantic. The atheist groups tiny.

Like you I came to this group for dating, but I don't even really think of it as a dating site anymore. Love the community. Making friends. BUT still the same problem.

Generation X wants congrigations as atheists. Even an atheist movement. Not the millennials.

So where is the magic place to meet? There isn't one. This is why I am staying here. I have begun to reach out to others I know and encourage them to join this platform. I plan to contact meetup groups and ask them to join.

You see I think that it's very possible the place you are looking can exist, it just doesn't yet.

Have you ever used an app called Meetup? It lists various groups in your area, and you can specify the type of group(s) you are interested in. For example, there is a skeptics/humanists group in my area, but they meet at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. If I wasn't gonna get out of bed on Sunday for god (when I still thought there WAS a god), I am sure as hell not going to get out of bed for non-divinities. But if they met at a more sociable hour, I'd be tempted to go. There might be something similar in your area.
