When I came out as an atheist one of my religious friends tried to "save" me and in doing so tried to explain the concept of original sin. It's utterly appalling to me that people believe this. I became an atheist when I recognized that the claims of organized religion don't stand up to scientific scrutiny but as I studied more of the religious scripture I found them to be morally repugnant.
