What is your response to those people who actually believe that prayer has been banned in public schools? I am surprised by how many people have the SCOTUS rulings on the topic so twisted.

I just tell them the truth. That people (kids) are free to pray in schools. However it isw only mandating or forcing it onto kids (compulsory prayer) that is banned. People are free to choose NOT to pray too.

I have been shunned for pointing this out to some "Christians" and conservatives. Even after doing so politiely and as respectfully as possible.

@Piratefish Yeah, the truth doesn't fit in with the idea their being "oppressed", victims and martyrs. They gleeffuly like to see themselves as victims, and they will ignore or "shun" you if you rain on their parade.

I read prayer in Public Schools is held to be unconstitutional since the Supreme Court ruled that the prayer was unconstitutional as a violation of the establishment clause of the First Amendment. But with the actual line up nobody knows. In the end nobody can force me to pray or not to pray...

I try to tell them the facts. If they don't accept it, that's on them.

You can always pray privately. In Canada I see Muslims allowed to take extra coffee breaks to pray, without the coffee.
