What is your feelings about Memorial Day? I feel indifference due to the endless wars that we had been involved in.... Have a lovely Sunday and it has been raining here all night and is 65 F in Fresno, California now! Also, tell me how you folks are surviving all that bad weather? Or good weather too and where is it at? BE SAFE AND HAPPY!

Cheap, plastic flower arrangements, imported flags, and beer. 'Murica.

I haven’t really thought much about it, but I do think there is a place to remember what people have sacrificed for, at least, our perceived need of protection

Memorial Day is a day to set aside some time to think upon the sadness of war. Some were righteous, some were not, but all are a reflection of what humans are capable of doing to each other, but sanitized by society because those actions were sanctioned by their country.

Those are my thoughts, as I sit here enjoying the best weather on the planet, in my opinion, with no desire to harm anyone for any reason today. I have everything I want at the moment and a sunny day too. (Kauai)

A single day to remember those who died, whether from deep belief or conscription. And nowadays, even to just remember anyone who has passed.
Why would you have a problem taking a moment?

Irritated… I’d long thought “Memorial Day” (in the USA) was for everyone dead, missed, and/ or whose grave is in need of tending. Not (yet another) opportunity to ..honor veterans…

With that, I’ve assumed “Veterans Day” is for planting flags in honor of veterans.

Our nation’s right-wing political leaders, in order to have a ready and eager fighting force (to bully the world) has continued to promote the ‘hero worship’ of everyone ever having volunteered or been inducted into the military. Thus, they’ve used Memorial Day as yet another opportunity to glorify war and those who died for one.

With that, Mem. Day has less and less significance to me 😟

National holidays are lonely when you're single. Friends are with their families.

I'm too proud to invite myself over for dinner on Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, etc.

My birthday is usually on Labor Day. Take the day off. It's my birthday!

Also, the weather is so-so here my friends and will be 70 F high in Clovis, California too! It be a lovely day here, but I feel funny about Memorial Day! Maybe because I am a Veteran and had seen too much ugly stuff in the Navy, Army, and Air Force. In either case, have a lovely day folks out there! Ah yes - weather! Fan tastic! Talked with mom back in Oregon yesterday ... ‘we’ve have 3 days with rain, and are expecting 3 more.’ Don’t miss that! In SW VA (USA), shit… took a 4 hour motorcycle ride this morning, and there’s basically sun in all of our ten day forecast 😉
