I had an interesting day yesterday. You find allies in strange places. So. I sometimes catch grief from some of my back-to-the-land friends b/c of my CLOTHES, k? They say I wear designer everything. Which is true. BUT I'm sorry (not), I research what I buy to ensure that the brands aren't practicing horrible ad campaigns or using child labor. I know how to shop online in a savvy and thrifty manner, so I spend much less than I would in a big box store. AND I'm not supporting a church, as I would if I went to one of the thrift stores here in town. Plus, when I kondo my closet, I GIVE the clothes away to those who can use them. So stop with your judgy attitude. I had this young guy get into a convo with me about jeans. He complimented me on my attire. (Happened to be all RL.) We agreed that buying a good pair of jeans that will LAST is far better than buying cheap jeans that will fall apart. I buy for comfort, appearance, and quality. I pay attention to what the brand does in terms of social issues. (D&G, for instance, would never get my business. Tom Ford would. Gucci is just beyond redemption. SO clueless.) I like trying new and local designers. There is a young man in a town over who has opened his own shop who is doing good things. And Of course, I buy from nonbinary clothing lines when I can. But a lot of my clothes are kids, coz that's what fits. And I like the edginess of boys stuff. A friend once described my style as "anarchic skateboarder gungy punk." I can live with that. Lol

I say wear what you want! I really hate judgey people, on any matter. When I was younger, I wore stylish/boho clothing; now it’s comfort wear. Same with hair. I’ve known women who let others dictate their hair length, color, style: WTF?! It’s my hair and I have to deal with it.
Wouldn’t the world be a better place if everyone minded their own business?

I’ve got no such sense of style, fashion awareness, or size options. I think I clean up nice when I need to but mostly I’m dressing for utility from cheap Walmart, JC Penny n Sears handmedowns. What kind of jeans and/or work pants would you recommend for someone who begrudgingly does farmwork, or shorts for hiking n yard work? Ruggedness, breathability, comfort and pockets being paramount. I’m losing weight but I doubt I’ll fit any designer brands any time soon, need a brand that goes well into the 40s probably to be safe. I love cargo pants/shorts but stylistically speaking I don’t like being the guy that wears cargo pants/shorts lol. Know of any brands built ethically n high quality for work wear like that? I’m trying to figure out what a woke blue collar fella should wear ideally but Ron White is too rich to tell me and the hipsters don’t actually do much work, otherwise I’d follow their lead. 🤷♀️

@BookDeath nice, I’ve always liked them but didn’t realize they had any backbone socially, that’s a plus!

As a seamstress, I truly appreciate the details and fine workmanship in high end clothing. My cousin was a dressmaker for the wealthy and made her living working with beautiful fabrics and trimmings. As a young girl, I often copied designer clothes using my own budget allowance my parents set for me. I appreciated learning the skills and the fine innovative designs...

I think there is no need to justify to others if you are not hurting yourself or others...sounds like you are being sensible and have put your priorities some place that others have not...that is how it should be...

Wear your clothes and own them...post pics of your favorites! ha ha Have fun and don't let anyone ruin your mellow...
