If someone is convinced they are going to Heaven when they die... then why bother with prolonging life or going to the Hospital? I would think it would make more sense to just make oneself as comfortable as possible as they accept the inevitable ending of physical life in anticipation of eternal bliss in Heaven.

Intellectualising death is one thing. Living it is nowhere near the same.

I agree. I feel that way about my mom. She claims to be Christian but fears death. I would think she would welcome it since she is so old and in pain.

My mom was an atheist and her death was very dignified and calm...she was not afraid and was very accepting and ready to go...she lived in the here and now and felt like she did well right here on earth...she closed her eyes and died with her family in the room peacefully...it was a nice lesson to us all.

I told her to enjoy the pain. Means we are still alive. I'm not sure she liked that. Still, I wouldn't be so frightened if I were her. She's 90. She'd had a good life. And since she's so religious, I don't know why death frightens her.

The fact that most everyone is not looking forward to death is proof positive of shaky faith.
