This guy is good.. I heard they're working on building a house that runs on this technology. Pretty cool.

This is the same technology that runs plug free phone chargers, induction cookers, etc. It is also a possible future technology for powering electric cars on major highways, thereby extending their range.
I built one for powering blown fluorescent tubes some 40 years ago!
It's fun, though.

Yeah...I am not sure what that was all about really...is it just educational? Kids have been making tesla coils for science projects for years...good presentation, I guess, if you are not familiar with Tesla...or want to be a YouTube star...?

@chaoticmind It is still the same - it's induction. The difference is merely that Tesla coils use ultra high voltages.

Building a house that runs on Tesla coils? Why?

exactly...

Simply because it's good fun to use broadcast power, rather than having extensive copper wiring and sockets with extension flexes to table lamps, and such. But you would still need a basic (wired) power supply to each room. LED lighting is highly adaptable to such use. Incandescent lamps are not.

No need for electrical chords, wall outlets, etc.
