We most likely all agree that we don't like proselytizing. What are your feeling about Atheists or Agnostics, trying to convince true believers that their belief is mistaken or absurd?

I have never actively tried to convince anybody. To me it is not my place to play that role.

Proselytizing is actively attempting to convert someone from one belief or opinion to another. A lot of folks tend to think that just being something other than what they profess to believe somehow is threatening. I have never seen atheists going door to door. If they are actively going to people's homes like Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons, I would have a problem. I see no problem with debates or comedians tackling religion or talks at events. Those activities could be construed to be proselytizing. As long as the religious go to their meeting places to practice and learn their beliefs I know few atheists that would fault them. As long as atheists likewise go to events to make their case then people should have no problem with it. Perhaps you should give an example of an atheist or agnostic proselytizing.

I have none. I have saved a lot of the debates that Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens because I enjoyed the very much and could enjoy watching them again. I've read several of their books. I just threw out the question to see what experiences others have had. I appreciate you concise, well thought out response.

I don't listen to them either.
