I've been a vegan before (for more than 5 years, not just a thing I tired out for a bit), and I think it helped me in multiple ways regarding a previously unhealthy diet, and it gave me a much better understanding of what kinds of nutrients and fuel I need... the standard American diet is not for me (or most others, as far as I can tell). However I felt like my diet was my religion, and learning enough about nutriton and seeking out foods that I could eat, wasn't sustainable, especially when considering how many of the foods were massively processed and pre packaged. I don't regret it, and I don't think i hurt myself, and I do think i needed to do it... but its a temporary thing, and I'm glad I wasn't making decisions about anyone else's dietary intake but my own.

The frog eats the bug. The snake eats the frog. The hog eats the snake. N we eat the hog. Until the dinosaurs return, or barring an invasion by lions, tigers, n polar bears, that's the way it is! I will remain comfortably omnivorous, the way I was evolved to be!

Switched to keto diet about a year ago and dropped about 90 lbs in under 6 months - by increasing my fat intake dramatically.

My most recent bloodwork was great for a 25 year old, let alone a 57 year old. We are evolved to eat a wide variety of fats, and different foods, so we should.

Congrats! Keto seems to be the only thing that works for me, as well! My bloodwork was excellent and just losing another 6 lbs. kept me from having to take blood pressure meds...I eat a lot of meat and eggs and pour butter on everything...I love it!
