Yes, we divorced economy from ecology long ago and are now starting to fully see the consequences of doing that.

The global capitalists are busy building luxury underground villages, self-sustaining and sealed off from the societies from which they'll be secluding themselves.
They are not stupid. They are consuming governments and societies to finance their survivals while the environment, economy, social systems, cultures, the whole of civilization, collapses.
Rather than throw off religion, they use it to manipulate the general populace into cooperating in their own demise.
IS the preceding a deliberate conspiracy, as implied, or is it developing that way in the course of events?
Name me one obscenely wealthy person who does NOT have such a Plan B. You cannot, because you can name very few who DO. But is there any doubt in your mind most if not all of them HAVE punched their ticket? Why would they tell you?

Karl Marx was very correct in his diagnosis of the problems with capitalism. However, he did not really know how to solve the problems, as his proposed solution showed a lack o knowledge about general human nature. So he go the diagnosis correct, but got the prescription wrong.

Capitalism is inherently corrrupt. The way to solve the problem is to regulate the heck out of it.

@MissKathleen I think the Democratic Socialist countries in Europe are on the right path to fidnign a prescription. The Decomocratic Socialist movement is making soem inroads here in the U.S., but as pointed out above, first we have to wrestle power away from the capitalists who now control it.

The primary problem is that in order to change culture, it has to be doen gradually. If you have a revooution, then you just change leaders, but the sytem and culture usually won't change much at all.

@MissKathleen I agree. We are at a point where if we don't' act NOW, there may not be any future generations.

And why should we listen to her or Marx?

Karl Marx analyzed the economic systems of societies. He could see that capitalism is inherently corrupt and envisioned the next stage of society’s economic development. This new system is being followed in a great part of the world.
