I have started a new group called "Taboos" = [agnostic.com]
Post the taboos you know, your experiences, predictions on what taboos will remain, go away and which new taboos will emerge in the United States.
Incest.
"If all men are brothers, would you let your sister marry one."
Title of a bnovella by Theodore Sturgeon.
If you mean incest will always remain a taboo, yes, I agree.
@St-Sinner I did not realize that i expressed an opinion either way. I highly recommend people read the book.
Mentioning that many people want babies not children and that people who can be profiled as breeding machines should be sterilised.
New family members added to our culture
we now have" baby mama" this refers to a woman that has no connection with a man other than they had a baby together.
we now have the term" baby daddy" which refers to a man which has nothing to do with the woman other than she gave birth to his baby.
although this is not a new taboo it's a spin on an old one
Discussing how human overpopulation is the root cause of global warming (climate change).
agree 100%. Taxing our toilet paper will not help. I appreciate that our government is not jumping on the wagon to punish us while the rest of the world is happily following the road to oblivion. China starts one coal plant a week, Brazil destroys an area size of say Virginia every month. There is no hope for us. Our children will hate us and for a good reason and soon
It is true that if the human population world wide was only, say, ten thousand, the estimated world population when we first left Africa. Then it would not mater if we all had four cars the effect would be virtually nil, population is a contributing factor in every environmental issue.
we've been at the top of the food chain for an awful long time.
maybe it's just Karma, the Planet existed before there were people and will exist when there are no people.
it's nothing to be afraid of death is just another part of life
There is plenty of land for the current population. Large swaths of lands are not inhabited by people at all. Urbanization and over concentrations of people seeking work along with lack of urban planning by inefficient and looting governments is the real problem. We have enough land for the current population. We cannot solve a problem that is not a problem.
@St-Sinner How arrogant to think that all the land on earth belongs to humans. Wherever the the population of humans is sufficient to displace and contribute to the extinction of other major species, that area is over-populated. Even most of southern Canada is over-populated.
Biodiversity, which is required for humans to thrive, is being destroyed by excessive human population. Despite the statements of some so-called "visionaries", Earth's biosphere is the only environment wherein humans will ever be able to survive and thrive.
Apparently people with your point of view constitute and contribute to the problem.
