In other words it’s a complete contradiction! Atheists are certainly completely safe under the constitution of Afghanistan...as long as they remain silent and keep it to themselves. If they dare make it known, then they can be arrested and charged with apostasy which carries the death sentence! Under these constraints it’s impossible to know how many people are actually atheists.

True, It does not make sense, if you believe in Islam you can reveal it by shouting through mosques loud speakers and teaching it at schools, but if you are an atheist you can not do any of them. You can't talk about it, you can't reveal it ie write it down on your IDs and you can't say it to anyone that you are atheist, if you do so, you will be executed, so me as an atheist, my parents used to force me to pray 5 times a day and take fast for the whole month of Ramadan, and according to constitution I can not reveal my atheism by denying all those rules.
