Nature and Science made me more spiritual (by that I mean attuned to myself) than any religious doctrine ever hoped to achieved. When I hike in the middle of a park or woods, hearing the birds chirp and the wind blow, I feel like a part of a community. And according to Science I am. We all descended from the same first organism that branch off into all the modern day organisms we see today. All connected with each other through genetics. A unique community only known to be on Earth in a endless cosmos. Our world is a part of a community of planets which orbit the Sun. The Sun according to silence is a part of a community of stars each hosting planets and forming galaxy. To think it all expanded into existence is a more fascinating tale than any version of Genesis I came across. We’re connected to the stars because they gave us the materials we need to exist. The Universe might be chaotic but everything work in harmony and I’m excited to see what more we’ll discovered in the universe. Just what Science discover showed me that everything is connected if we only take the time to find what makes everything work.

While I shy away from terms like "spiritual", I do often experience a certain ineffable reverence for nature, a la Spinoza. Sean Carroll's book "The Big Picture" describes a perspective he calls "poetic naturalism", which resonates with me.

Well you are a part of world, aren't you

Why would you say "spiritual" if you mean "attuned to myself". Spiritual people are either con men or conned men and you can't trust either. So why would I bother reading anything you have to say. You should post on some new age bull shit site.
.

That sounds a bit harsh to let semantics impede your interaction with someone. You might learn something. As the old saying goes, “closed mind, closed heart”

I personally hate the word "spiritual", when used that way. It suggests that you believe in spirits...but I like everything else you said and feel the same way.

Exactly. and I've always been connected to nature.

Amen 😀

Love this (and don’t hear it often enough): “We all descended from the same first organism that branch off into all the modern day organisms we see today.” Found myself in a 4 on 1 (me) decision this evening ..while trying to watch some local fireworks. I mentioned just what you said - nearly verbatim. “I refuse to believe that!” said one. ‘Yet you’re expecting me to believe in an all-powerful mythical being without a shred of evidence,’ I responded.

Didn’t quite need your help.. but it’s wonderful to come home to such words of science & wisdom ~

I feel the same way walking in the woods and looking at the trees, flowers, and the crawly little bugs. Last night I couldn't help but get distracted looking at the twinkling fireflies while everyone else was watching the fireworks. Honestly, this past week "What a Wonderful World" has kind of been a hymn to me. Humans naturally have these feelings of "spirituality." It's a shame so many people attribute them and dedicate them to the supernatural. The natural world is enough for me.

That was what I was trying to word. You don’t need supernatural mumble jumble to feel those experiences. You just need to stop and listen.
