My younger sister (32) & I were at my parents house to do some yard work for them. (Sister also had her kids there.)

Sister had a church ministry shirt on with the words “And his desire is for me. - Song of Solomon 7:10”

I just had a plain red shirt on. I thought this would be a perfect time to counter it with my “In Science We Trust” shirt.

I quickly changed shirts & start to play outside with my sisters kids.

Sister noticed the shirt & 5 min. Conversation started...

Sister - That’s a cool shirt. Where’d you get it?

Me - I got it off Amazon.
(Raised fist up, chanted GO SCIENCE.)

Niece (7) - Science?

Me - Yup. Science. Science is awesome. Science & Engineering help create that wagon you are play in. Science & Engineering help create those clothes you wear.

Sister - Yea, but that’s not what that shirt means.

Me - Oh, really. What does it suppose to mean?

Sister - It’s supposed to say “In god we trust.” It cause you follow Science Instead of Religion.

Me - Well, Science is everywhere though.

(30 sec. pause.)

Sister - What is that on your ankle? Is that an ankle bracelet?

Me - Yup it’s an Infinity symbol. Infinity is a cool mathematical concept. Did you know some Infinities are bigger than other Infinities?

Sister - Just weird. I never thought to see you in an anklet.

Me - Why?

Sister - It’s kinda a girl thing?

Me - So, what are bracelets?

Sister - Well, you have always wore bracelets, so that’s not new.

Me - So if I wore bracelets, it’s ok? But not an anklet?

Sister - Well, anklet are really wore by girls & men that are either gay or switch genders; and I know you are not that way.

Me - So, let me get this straight...
If I wear a bracelet on my wrist, I’m ok...
But, if I wear a bracelet on my ankle, it’s not ok?

(30 sec pause as she thinks about the logic)

Me - I’m just blown away that you think I can’t wear an anklet.

Sister - I’M JUST SAYING IT’S WEIRD & HAVE NEVER SEEN YOU WEAR ONE.

Me - (lifts up leg & shows sister) See, I have one.

Sister - Ok, Ok, Ok. I SEE IT. Jeez.
