45 had the choice, we chose and outside interference made our choice not matter.

That and the increadably fucked up way we vote for the prez.

3M+ fucking votes. Jesus.

@1of5 Indeed, because of the electoral college not all votes are equal.

@MizJ So damned fuckwitable.

I just can't put the framers on a pedestal for that. 2 of the 5 we've been subjected too have happened in this century. Course if we'd had a constitutional convention after the cival war instead of reconcilliation...but I digress.

@1of5 The framers got a lot of things right, for not foreseeing everything I do not fault them.

@MizJ one of the things they got right was fearing the tyranny of the past. The changes in technology and social development didn't escape them and they knew things change (they lived in the beginning of the advances we see today, but alibet slower), and put in place for change to happen. While we used to use it regularly we haven't been lately. It's been over 15 years since an ammendment was passed and over 50 (I think) since any significant one was passed. What we've done is hamper the future because we thought they got it so right in the past, and resisted change. That becomes self perpetuating.

So I'm kinda contradicting myself, but don't care.

@ToolGuy Imagine the look on their faces if you could go back in time and let them fire an AR-15!

@ToolGuy yeah, gun ownership. Its original intent, IMHO, was to prevent the government from having a monopoly on violence as one of the means to "keep the government honest". The ability to inflict violence has far excited thier wildest expectations and even a fraction of the firepower available to the government wreaks havoc on our society. To add insult to injury it isn't fucking working, so yippie.

@1of5 I have fired black powder weapons, it's tedious.
