I hope they're done but getting our side to vote is the problem. Salvaging the planet as we know it isn't going to happen. Keeping it somewhat livable is about all we can hope for. Getting Trump out of office in the next election or before probably will have a lot to do with how much we can salvage.

Forget about the planet. It's been here for 5 billion years, and it isn't going anywhere. We, on the other hand, are a different story. We're not destroying the planet. We're rendering it unsustainable to our species. Once we're gone, the planet will do what any organism does when it rids itself of a virus.
It will convalesce, and it will mend. The scars we leave might remain, but we won't be around to observe them.

I agree. The planet will remain regardless what we do it short of blowing it up. It may not resemble what we are familiar with, but it will continue. Even a global nuclear war would probably not destroy all life on the planet. Microbes in the soil and extremophiles would most likely persrvere and survive. Evolution would occur with given whatever left.

Extinction might be the word your looking for.

Adaptation?

I think I deviated from the main article theme due to Matt's post to which I originally responded.

Well, interesting speculation to be sure. The article is preaching to the converted though (Or deconverted I guess,) and makes free use of logical fallacies. Hope so, but they are fanatics unconcerned with Democracy, cause God is on their side. Interesting times indeed.
