I'm a sucker for antique lighting. Went to the Hughes house this weekend. It was built on the Oregon coast in 1898 by an Irish family. It was ultra modern in its day with indoor running water!

Love, Love, LOVE the freestanding oil lamp! I collect more interesting ones and that one is a peach! I like building my own lighting fixtures. Most recently I build some larger wall sconces for my great room. Store-bought ones were just too small. I made them of steel and copper. I plan on something similar when I build the chandeliers.

Cool! Would love to see some!

@Remi Here's a picture of one of my sconces close-up. Normal sconces are 10"-12" across... These are 20" across. A slightly rusty and beaten frame with leaves and then a rounded copper insert. Working the copper with a mallet on a sandbag and then an English wheel was the hardest part. I then flame treated the copper to bring out different colors. The next shot is the great room with all 4 in action. Less detail... But you get the whole look then.

I bought this gas fireplace a few days ago. There’s a tag inside the cabinet, with the serial number, and signature of the cabinet maker that assembled it, but no date or manufacturer’s name.
From its Art Deco style, I’m guessing it’s 29 - 40 years newer than the lamps you saw.

I went through the Mansion up in Portland that was owned by the original owner of The Oregonian how's this for a shower? The antique lighting is cool.

That place is so cool! Love the lights in the music room
