A friend is going to the Cubs and Padres game today. I got to thinking and decided to ask: anyone here fans / or have a past association with any team that has some sort of religious themed name or mascot, etc? And does that name bother you in anyway? Most people become fans of particular teams at an early age, so not much thought goes into names then. But later, by college????

Their nickname is The Saints because when they were founded in 1885 they were called St Mary’s.
No problem with the name at all. Even if they were called God’Own Country they would still be my team.
By getting caught up in names it’s easy to miss the reality inside.
