I see stuff like this all the time on social media. But this... this is nuts. It’s mind control. “Do not lean on your own understanding” is code for “don’t think for yourself, don’t trust your intuition, do not use logic or reasoning.” It takes a bit of self-control not to tear in to this young, home-schooling mother about how incredibly inane and ridiculous all the religious bull$h!t is. I resist all the time. But... why stir up a hornets’ nest?
I was raised Catholic and went from being a theist to a deist to "spiritual but not religious" (by far my most annoying, eye-rolling phase).
I'm grateful for the journey, as it's given me great perspective. I lose my patience with things theists say and do, but I understand how they think and I'm actually happy my mother is a devout Catholic in these last days of her life.
Religious indoctrination is terrible when it teaches people they can't trust themselves. I don't see much of this in Canada but it seems to be getting even worse in the US.
Fortunately, I've fully recovered from my Catholicism.
I really does seem to be getting worse here, especially farther south, where I am; annoyingly and frighteningly worse. I often want to give my opinion in these things, but religion is everywhere here, and seems to have its hooks in everyone. So much so, that it’s even warped the culture at my job. I just bite my tongue.
Congrats on your recovery!
I don't but that probably has something to do that I live in Australia. They are not as nutty about religion as they are in the US.
Lucky you. LOL
