When did the expression "Try and .." appear?
If someone says "Try and run faster" does it mean "Run faster whilst you are attempting something else"
The correct expression "Try to ..." has been corrupted. So next time you open your mouth, try TO remember this, please.

I am in sales and am always asking my customers to do better than the prior months. Occasionally I will get, "I'll try!" in response.... I immediately text them the picture below...
