Mass shootings are truly cowardice acts of domestic terrorism. Such a tragedy to kill innocent people in the name of religion, nationalism, bigotry, racism, or simply hatred. Hopefully we will evolve out of this behavior and realuze life is precious and we should try to respect and show tolerance of our differences.
Most have, but any population will inevitably have it’s handful of freaks & misfits. Our problem in the US is their access to military grade weaponry… No evolution necessary, just enough of a conscience to elect those willing to risk their office to stop it..
I concur but will also add that many don't or can't get psychological help or afford its medicine because of the system that is in place.
@gsiamne Agreed, but also for many, especially males (research does show this), admitting that one needs counseling/"help" is seen as an admission of weakness. The people who most need the help are the least likely to ask for it.
(Weird tangent here) One of the Democratic candidates has suggested that everyone should do a year of public service post-high school. Could be military, could be Americorps, other options could be created. I like this idea because perhaps it would help young men avoid the lack of focus that seems to characterize many of the young male shooters. Apparently they think there should still be the "good jobs" that paid lots of money for low skills, but those jobs don't exist anymore, and we are NOT going to bring them back. Maybe a year of post-high-school service (paid, of course) would allow young people to get a look at other people's realities AND allow them some time to think about who they want to be. And to get out of the households where all they hear is complaining about what the liberals have done to kill America. I don't think it is the only thing, but maybe it would help break some kids out of their negative molds.
