When I lived in MD, my kids from a previous marriage came out to visit. The younger one told my wife that he wanted to be a Marine sniper when he got older. She drove him to the Arlington cemetery and had a long chat about his ambitions. Never brought up the idea again.

August 4, 2019 Brooklyn, New York Four people were wounded in a shooting in the Crown Heights neighborhood.
August 4, 2019 Chicago, Illinois One person was killed and seven others were injured in a shooting in the Lawndale community
August 4, 2019 Chicago, Illinois Seven people were wounded in a drive-by shooting near Douglas Park.
That is before the two "Big Ones"
