I think you're rather projecting. I can't claim to know what many Christians believe about the shootings or how they explain it away (although, as davknight points out, the old "He works in mysterious ways" probably figures largely) but I'm pretty sure that the image of a God behaving with literally imperial indifference lies only with you - something for which we rightly call out true believers, presuming to know the mind or the actions of an imagined divine being.
