Should people get together and organize a boycott of electric card payments, at least until governments are forced to issue cards of their own, so that you can use national cards which contribute to tax revenue and social projects.
Electronic payments are controlled by super rich corporations, the costs are tiny but their percentages a huge, every time you pay with a card you effectively pay a tax to the super rich capitalists fat cats, (It nearly goes direct to their bank accounts). It is one of the biggest contributions to the growing rich poor divide there is.
And electric cards payments are an area which governments could manage well at little cost. Though of course they don't because the capitalists who control the cards, and the political establishments are two faces of the same coin.

Banking services are something that has been discussed that the post office could take on - such as check cashing and money orders.
There are also online banks (Aspiration is one) that pay 2% interest on your money and support social causes and would allow you to make electronic payments without supporting the big financial institutions.
North Dakota has the only State Bank in the country, which provides services to the state at lower cost than the big banks.

National cards. My credit cards work perfectly! The second the government starts issuing credit cards, the whole industry will turn to shit! Just like everything else the government does!

How secure is your data?
How many private companies have been hacked?
If there were true competition in the market, would we be paying 25% interest or more on credit cards?
I not saying that credit cards are an area that the government should be in, and I don’t want the government making my car or clothes, but they do some things very well, with greater efficiency and lower cost than the private market.

@Haemish1 Data is not secure at all. As far as interest, credit cards, in my view, are for a very short term credit only. I always pay them off, don't pay any interest. If I need something I rather wait and collect my money to pay cash.

It’ll take your nation or continent to implement such a plan. In the USA, too many still feel ‘for profit’ medical care is justified by Capitalism … and that any concept not making the rich Richer is Socialism 😕 So please, lead the way ~
