You would think that even a believer, if they are honest and genuine, (Big ask that's true.) would think that made it worse, because that is two crimes not one.
Says more about the Judge than the pervy perp.
Either Hizzoner was scared of going to Hell for locking up a pastor, or someone had the goods on him too?
