I never could understand the use of e-cigarettes beyond being a device to aid a person to stop smoking, and once successful to be discarded. It seems they can also be a serious health hazard!

I vape both THC and nicotine. I used to be a four pack a day smoker. The cases of lung disorder reported on were caused by people using untested illegal thc, not nicotine like e cigarettes. Many people live where there are dispensaries that sell tested for purity thc. This has been unknown to cause any problems. Many others live in places where they cannot get thc thats tested for purity. This is caused by people like yourself who jump to unwarranted and unwise conclusions from the misinformation that is out there.

My main contention is why vape at all? By all means use it to wean oneself off cigarettes if one lacks the willpower to go "cold turkey". But then one should, for sure, wean oneself off the vaping.
After all, it has become a fad, whereby youngsters, who have never smoked, take up vaping due to the influence of advertising and perceived social status.

In my naïveté I thought the same. Learning all the time!

pf course. there full of nicotine and they can't possibly have been tested properly. its a way of openining tobacconists, vape shops while at the same time selling tobacco in other shops and seaming to do the right thing while raking in the rewards just like always. there the biggest criminals and have the biggest gangs. there called government. the nly place anyone can legally smoke at work is in the houses of parliment.

I think we need to get this into perspective....compared to deaths from smoking cigarettes....it’s negligible. The harmful tar and sugars in cigarettes are not in the vaping essences, and the ones that do contain a small amount of nicotine are not as harmful, although because it’s the nicotine that is the addictive element in cigarettes, the essences with nicotine will keep the vaper hooked. It’s basically flavoured water vapour that they are drawing in and puffing out, not smoke containing sugars, tars and other harmful substances which are going into their lungs like cigarettes.

That USED to be the case, but competition breeds innovation. In the scramble for market share, more and more flavours and enhancers are added, with little or no official supervision. Caffeine is now added to "give a boost", but caffeine acts far more strongly on the system if inhaled than if drunk. Caffeine/nicotine reliance could cause vapers to vape more and more. And, by default, a particular brand.

@Petter Well, they should be regulated, and only certain substances allowed. As an aid to stopping smoking they do work, but like everything else...what starts off as a beneficial tool can be hijacked when a new market opens up. The tobacco companies see this as another opportunity to make a fortune.

@Marionville I believe that research is now looking at a statistical correlation between vaping and induced pneumonia.
