Genuine request for help.
As I have explained a few times, my sons were born in USA. They now live with me in UK. Obvs they have both British and American nationality. Unfortunately we don't have my eldest son's SS card and can't get a copy from UK. Is there any way anyone can check it out if you can obtain it in USA?

You must get those cards from the USA, Social Security Administration...should be quite easy if you have his SS#, even try online. Or Call, nothing like talking to an actual human being. The UK has nothing to do with SS Admin, why would you even bother to try there?

Anne he is American and wants to spend time in the country of his birth. We have spoken to the US embassy and they said he needs to attend the embassy which isn't possible.

@Amisja I think you need to talk to someone else. That person gave you wrong info! Any American can get a passport with a birth certificate and one more form of ID. They are issued by the Post Office, so even though you are out of the country, I would call the Post Office & find out what they want you to do. Embassies only ever issue copies of passports if you have lost one in a foreign place...they do not issue brand-new ones,I doubt if they even have a mechanism to do so.

Having just dealt with them on the death of my mom... I can tell you that nobody can do that remotely for you. The first thing they ask for is proof of who you say you are... In my case I had a death certificate and had to show proof of my relationship with my mom.

I am so sorry for your loss.

@Amisja Awwww... Thank you!

Have you tried the nearest U.S. Embassy? Also try the U.S. Social Security website. It might address that issue.

Yes and they want him to attend the embassy

@Amisja Just for a copy of his social security card? Wow.

@Amisja and is there an impediment for him to go to the embassy?

@Rodatheist Yes its in London!
