Let us not forget why they make you go out to war, and nothing to do with keeping you safe.

sadly, the avg american doesn't seem able to make the connection that wars always benefit the MIC.

That's because they think it will trickle down to them, the wealth, they think they are temporary in a dire situation no matter that they are the second or third generation in that situation.

@Jolanta ,
dumb as Fcking fenceposts.

We have voluntary military service in the US. No one can actually be made to go to war who didn't already say "I'll go".

That's not what I remembered from the 60s .

@Besalbub I'm talking about now, not then.

Well, I don't think it is as black and white as you say. Many people join the military in the US because there are no jobs for them or that they cannot afford to go to college.

that's one of the reasons that the US educational system is designed to guarantee a lower class of dimwits who join the US military & think they are saving the free world when the exact opposite is true.

@Jolanta and yet to join you still have to agree to the terms.

What you describe happens, but would it if military service wasn't revered so much? Our socio-economic culture produces this - the need for an expendable underclass and the continued production of same - to serve the desires of the elite.
