Many of these people were Not poor until catastrophic medical expenses made them so....in fact (ooh, facts!) the majority of bankruptcies are caused by medical bills.....

Sounds like some of the owners I talk to... After a round of sales training and talking with the teams I might suggest pay plan changes to owners. I've had a few say, "No, my people aren't motivated by money!" I just do a wha, wha, what?

Why would we want health care when we can suffer for years from preventable and curable diseases?

That's reprehensible, and the figures just don't back up his belief. Thank goodness he wasn't ever my doctor, or who knows how his bias would have affected my care.

He's saying poor people want to be sick and suffer. He is blaming the victims.

He is more of a conservative than a doctor. He is more for tax cuts for the wealthy than for the Hippocratic Oath.
