There is that in some places. China is trying to bring it back through laws - children must be in contact with their parents (I do not know the frequency) and employers must give time off for children living too far away to go visit (not sure how some could afford this). I don't believe regulations will work. And I don't believe that here in the States many will continue to embrace it, especially with the growth of senior living, etc.
