Why do so many people not respect the opinions of Trump supporters as they do with other controversial topics?
I posted this elsewhere, but I will use it here as well.
Why do liberals think Trump supporters are stupid?

The serious answer: Here’s what we really think about Trump supporters - the rich, the poor, the malignant and the innocently well-meaning, the ones who think and the ones who don't...
That when you saw a man who had owned a fraudulent University, intent on scamming poor people, you thought "Fine."
That when you saw a man who had made it his business practice to stiff his creditors, you said, "Okay."
That when you heard him proudly brag about his own history of sexual abuse, you said, "No problem."
That when he made up stories about seeing Muslim-Americans in the thousands cheering the destruction of the World Trade Center, you said, "Not an issue."
That when you saw him brag that he could shoot a man on Fifth Avenue and you wouldn't care, you chirped, "He sure knows me."
That when you heard him illustrate his own character by telling that cute story about the elderly guest bleeding on the floor at his country club, the story about how he turned his back and how it was all an imposition on him, you said, "That's cool!"
That when you saw him mock the disabled, you thought it was the funniest thing you ever saw.
That when you heard him brag that he doesn't read books, you said, "Well, who has time?"
That when the Central Park Five were compensated as innocent men convicted of a crime they didn't commit, and he angrily said that they should still be in prison, you said, "That makes sense."
That when you heard him tell his supporters to beat up protesters and that he would hire attorneys, you thought, "Yes!"
That when you heard him tell one rally to confiscate a man's coat before throwing him out into the freezing cold, you said, "What a great guy!"
That you have watched the parade of neo-Nazis and white supremacists with whom he curries favor, while refusing to condemn outright Nazis, and you have said, "Thumbs up!"
That you hear him unable to talk to foreign dignitaries without insulting their countries and demanding that they praise his electoral win, you said, "That's the way I want my President to be."
That you have watched him remove expertise from all layers of government in favor of people who make money off of eliminating protections in the industries they're supposed to be regulating and you have said, "What a genius!"
That you have heard him continue to profit from his businesses, in part by leveraging his position as President, to the point of overcharging the Secret Service for space in the properties he owns, and you have said, "That's smart!"
That you have heard him say that it was difficult to help Puerto Rico because it was the middle of water and you have said, "That makes sense."
That you have seen him start fights with every country from Canada to New Zealand while praising Russia and quote, "falling in love" with the dictator of North Korea, and you have said, "That's statesmanship!"
That Trump separated children from their families and put them in cages, managed to lose track of 1500 kids. has opened a tent city incarceration camp in the desert in Texas - he explains that they’re just “animals” - and you say, “well, ok then.”
That you have witnessed all the thousand and one other manifestations of corruption and low moral character and outright animalistic rudeness and contempt for you, the working American voter, and you still show up grinning and wearing your MAGA hats and threatening to beat up anybody who says otherwise.
What you don't get, Trump supporters in 2019, is that succumbing to frustration and thinking of you as stupid may be wrong and unhelpful, but it's also...hear me...charitable.
Because if you're NOT stupid, we must turn to other explanations, and most of them are less ‘flattering.'

Sort of like the climate change denier on here who a few days ago posted that pumping tons of CO2 into the atmosphere isn't harmful because we are actually feeding the trees because that is what they breathe.

I don't see a single Dem, on ANY given day, that made the STUPID decision to vote for such a vile piece of shit.
Evangelicals, and their weirdo followers, swear he was sent by their god... HA!, what's that say about THEIR god? No thank you.
The deep south prides themselves on their choices of representatives, and their fear of immigrants, but applaud that wall, boy...even when it takes money away from veterans...I hope they all choke on their empty words to support our troops and DISABLED vets.
But, alas, the comment you made was proof positive. I will applaud you, though. I don't run across many atheists or humanists that actually tolerate such a waste of human DNA. #Idiot-in-chief #FuckYou45!
@Twisted185 I love Trump - he's a true genius, and he's assembled a brilliant team, Barr, Pompeo, etc - Trump is fine tuning the government and building the wall, new trade deals, forcing other countries to pay their portion of Nato.
Every American should be grateful for what Trump is doing - some Democrats are just too stupid to realize it.

If you can name JUST ONE foreign government that has amicably agreed to any one of his verbally abusive, and immature rants in nature (and you'd better not say Russia or North Korea), then you may remotely understand the inner workings of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. I'm seeing, now, that you don't. 
The treaties, set WAY before him, are being broken by him. Those treaties were set in place to benefit and unite the encompassed countries, including our own. He's verbally and economically ATTACKED those countries encompassed and has refuted any stance made, by said attacked countries, to hold him accountable. Fucking hell, man...
Those trade deals you mentioned? Ya, grab a chance to travel to the heartland of this country; farmers are livid, and are scrambling to find other "unaffected" crops to invest in. If they don't export to other countries, they don't get to eat. The price of grains, dairy, and domestic grown goods, have increased in price in our markets, because SOMEONE'S gotta keep them farmers/ranchers in business... because the countries that he's imposed tariffs on, have left the table. They called his bluff and said FUCK OFF. Not quite sure you understand what he's done. Making them pay their fair share? There's only one way to shut a bully up, and that's to walk away with the middle finger extended.
Let's talk about that wall, next. Do you think it's proper for him to divert funds, that go to veterans... both retired and disabled? Do you think it's moral for those funds to be diverted from FEMA? (let me know if an earthquake hits, and you get assistance to rebuild...oh yeah, I forgot, you don't like socialistic applications!, silly me!)
Do you believe it to be fair that the funds for that wall will be taken from social security (especially if Moscow Mitch gets his way)? But I digress; that's a social program too, and if you're of retirement age, say bye-bye....I don't guess you liked it anyway, right?
Dude, by my observations (well over these last 3 years), I'd say that every TRUE American, should despise him, because even you will be affected, in the coming months.
When someone says that stupid should hurt?, I always envision a Trump supporter beating their heads against a brick wall without ceasing... ignoring that pain and the obvious blood running down their twisted faces... still banging on, still holding back guttural screams of pain, because they're bent on showing Dems they're the smart ones.

You think he's got balls?; Angela Merkel chopped them little dingles at the last summit. Macron smirked in his pudgy face, and Trudeau mocked his "genius" during his proposal to continue onward, regarding the Paris Accord.

He's not made headway with making ANY country pay anymore than what was agreed. If you know of JUST ONE, within the NATO alliance, please share. You've offered nothing but rhetoric and parroting, no substance to your claim that "he's got balls". He's not made headway with Mexico paying for that wall; which will do absolutely nothing, except bankrupt you and I, in taxes, because it's you, me, FEMA, the VA, that will be paying for it...I kinda thought that "your kind" didn't like taxes, anyway.

(responding to the initial question … if not the manifesto that followed) “trump supporters” fall into two catagories: those who benefit tremendously from his lessing of taxes, basically industry moguls; and those lacking the education, morals, vision or intelligence to understand he’s undercutting their health & welfare..
The first group is minuscule, but as money talks - they make a lot of noise! Think koch (rhymes with crotch, not coke) bros' - cutting environmental regulations profits them … do you think they live in low-lying smog-laden inner cities … or mountain top Swiss Chalets..?
The only thing that likely irks the filthy rich about trump ..is his slowing the influx of easily exploitable, union-busting, wadge-lowering illegal alien labor. Otherwise - watch them pour $ into his reelection campaign…
Then we’ve got ‘America’s poorest.’ Poorly educated as well, they’re easily tricked. And they were.. They’ve watched their minimum wage near slave-labor production industries off-shored - and they want someone to blame(!). And the ones opioids haven’t killed ..vote.

There's a fine line between ignorance and stupidity.
The ignorant, such as a child for instance, is ignorant. The child makes decisions mostly based on emotion, not education. As the child grows, it learns. It learns that some decisions MUST be made on the wings of education... it certainly is willing to learn.
The stupid? Those that have been taught, and STILL refute the wonders of education. Still solely basing decisions, largely, on emotion. They're angry, they're afraid of change, they're afraid of anyone darker than a pale shade of porcelain. They don't grow because they don't want to. They're not willing to learn.
To recap: the ignorant are shown something to learn; to know the difference between right and wrong, to know why things can go up and thus come down again. To know all the facts before making a rational, educated, decision. They're willing to learn.
The stupid are simply shown something to learn; a better way, a love of society as a whole and a reason why we're of the same race, and STILL throw it out the window, because of fear. They're unwilling to learn.
What is unknown, can lead to fear, and that fear will surely lead to hate.... and that hate, which spews from that piece of shit's mouth, fuels the fire to guaranteed violence.
