Yes, it is bullshit. Are you trying to make sense of the bible? I've found that once I took away the outer layer - that men, many men, mostly barely literate men, over many years - wrote this book, then making sense of the rest of it is immaterial except for a strictly historical view.

It’s allegorical. And all religious texts can be read as allegory.

There are an infinite number of ways to read these types of text so rule number 1, don’t take them literally. Then strip away the top layer and see what you find and remember it is your interpretation that is important, not anyone else or a commentary.

It’s like archeology; the more strata you cut through, the more levels of expression you will find.

Does the Bible ever say that any creature has free will? Creation myths often end in adventures of the first humans clearly making choices and being held responsible for free thought such as Eve being held responsible for wanting knowledge. I do hear the argument that Satan's fall demonstrates free will by theologians. Frankly though, I would say that our modern definition of the concept is well above the Bible's pay grade.
