Most in America have been raised within the context of a religious background. Whether Christianity, Judaism, Muslim or another belief system, those religious systems teach the value of honesty, ethics, integrity and caring for others in need.
It’s obvious, we you look at our society, that, collectively, those religions have failed. Miserably failed.
We need to do better. And, the answer is not re-emphasizing religion. Its not changing political systems, either. It’s about finding leaders who have integrity and empathy. It’s about changing society by explicitly teaching about honesty, ethics, integrity, and empathy is schools.

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.It is about becoming mature, honest and moral individuals ourselves and teaching to our children and to others by example. That way we do not have to outsource the job to the government or to the schools.

Would be nice if parents would do it but they don’t. Worse, many teach the opposite by teaching hate and greed. And, even if they did teach morality and ethics and empathy, teaching those things in school too will not hurt.
It is about realizing that hypocrisy goes hand in hand with religion.

Hypocrisy is the definition of an act taken in opposition to a position to one’s moral or ethical position. Religion does not necessarily play a role. But, within the context of the original post, most every harmful act is an example of hypocrisy.
That’s no more so than any clique of people, dare I say that ‘even’ atheists do as good a line in hypocrisy as anyone.
