You are always trying to sound deep, but you never quite make it, and you seldom make sense. According to you, you are just part of my imagination it really doesn't matter. You don't really exist, which is fine with me.

@DonaldHRoberts You no nothing about my career. You are not deep or glib. I love it when people prove my point. Thank you. 😊

@DonaldHRoberts My name is right there by my photo. No wonder you can't see reality. You are blind. You make this too easy.

@DonaldHRoberts He can see! It's a miracle! 😁

My feeling is, each of us has two realities: the external common one outside of us, and the individual ones inside each of us. And the one inside is definitely the most genuine.

I think there is a reality but it is an ultimate reality beyond our sense world, and it’s nature is totally foreign to our way of understanding. Our personal realities are based on symbols and aren’t real. I think Donald Hoffman with his Conscious Realism has it right.

Does not make any difference if there is or is not. Because if our lives are an illusion and we can see nothing else, then that illusion is 'our' reality. While it in turn must exist because you can not have an illusion that does not exist.

Reality depends on ones perspective. If we are talking about things larger than the atom them reality is what we see and act with and upon. When we are dealing with things smaller than the atom then one starts to talk about the quantum world and the basics of this are not known for sure other than we can experiment and measure. Since all of this stuff is really small, like a millionth of a millionth of a millionth of a millionth and smaller. We can have no actual experience of this stuff but we can experiment and figure out enough to make cell phones and quantum computers, GPS and particle accelerators. We can use this information to make things but we cannot decide on what it is down to the smallest detail, thus we can say that reality is not known. Basically this does not really affect any of us on a day to day basis other than for our tools and toys.

Holy shit! If reality doesn't exist, what does?

@DonaldHRoberts Of which you have very little, obviously.

this statement is not reality

So if I punch you on the nose it won't matter then?

@DonaldHRoberts Thereby proving that your contention of there not being any such thing as reality is not one that you believe in, since you are not willing to risk either your nose or the approaching fist being actual for fear of real pain and real damage.

@ToolGuy Perception on a personal basis is irelevent if there is a common frame of reference regarding a data packet or set of data packets existing with a common effect when unpacked or collapsed regardless of how it is perceived by individuals.
For example we all call the colour of grass green, regardless of how your brain interprets the information obtained by your eyes for you as compared to how my brain interprets it for me.

@ToolGuy they still experience a shade of gray that they identify as probably green, this why we need tests to identify those who are colour blind, my brother was not diagnosed until his mid twenties.
Physical reality is not subjective, things are real (matter and energy), unreal (imaginary), conceptual (in potentia) or abstract (symbolic)

@DonaldHRoberts No he didn't. If you remove your hat it will be in plain sight. 😊

So, is your green color the same as my green?

actually maybe not but thats not because its not reality.

@LeighShelton that actually is an example of differing realities..

@Charlene no its seeing reality differently. its still the same reality but with different eyes. whats normal for the spider is chaos and murder for the fly yet they are in the same web.

@desertastronomer its still the same reality seen in a different colour

It does not matter if you both perceive the same things as being green.

1

Please elaborate. What is this that we are experiencing?

@DonaldHRoberts which means nothing if the common frame of reference exists, how we perceive reality neither confirms or denies it's existence but simply confirms we are all having experiences that are common to all and are able to be discussed using language.
