Great rational letter.
I wrote a short letter (at the urging of mom) to Bertrand Russell when at age ten to request his "History of the World in Epitome." I included a sketch of him by my mom. He wrote back a brief letter enclosing the little history ( 4-9/16" high, 3-5/16" wide, 11 pages), and thanking me for the sketch, which he said he had on the wall beside his desk.
I was so awed, I still remember the details. "Since Adam and Eve ate the apple, man has never refrained from any folly of which he was capable."
That's being 'rude polite' in grand fashion.
His articulate reasons are said with eloquent truth and sincerity.
The language of some British-schooled rationalists is pretty elegant.
