So, I hear many people say that the reason they believe in god is so they will go to heaven. If you are supposed to to love god and jesus, you should be loving them for unselfish reasons. We do not love our spouse, our child, our dog, our cat, our friend because there is something in it for us. We love them unconditionally, for the sake of loving them. So therefore, the love of god is not a unselfish love, but a selfish or conditional love. If you love god so you can get into heaven, is that really love?

It is simple because Christianity is a religion of fear.
Most do not worship god for the love of god, but for the fear of hell.

Exactly. Makes no sense. And if there were a god you can imagine the scene that has been around for decades of Jesus banging his fist against his forehead or suchlike saying “I DIDN’T MEAN THAT!”

I agree fully with what you are saying. And I would ask, of what value is a declaration of belief if made to keep from going to hell?

There’s no such thing as hell, and we are in heaven all the time.
