Subconscious Beliefs of Religion
I have found that there are some very serious mental repercussions that result from religious indoctrination. Thoughts?
Belief in a 'One' god that is somehow a separate being.
Teaches us that authority exists only outside of the self, and that nothing can be accomplished without approval of a master. Furthermore, that the master is not responsible for communicating directly and clearly, and any punishment dealt must be accepted with humility and thanks.
Belief in an afterlife
Seats you with the impression that the here and now is not nearly as important as the there and then, teaching you to consistently feel that the result is more important than the process, and giving you the ability to accept a shittier world without questioning it because, in the end none of this matters and i just have to wait to be happy then, so i can fake happy now and die with regret.
Not to mention that it teaches you that you will 'not be judged by your works' which basically tells you that its worthless to be proactively creative or artistic or worry about customizing life.
Belief that a savior died to forgive your sins including 'original' sin
Teaches you, again, to accept a shittier world without further explanation, victim mentality, and that humans are somehow naturally inclined to kill, conquer, destroy and rape everything in sight. It even teaches some people that 'every now and then, when you feel like it, an undead wise man will speak to you in your brain, and that is Jesus, and you have an actual, real relationship with him'. Also that one man's extremely ancient, controversial and potentially fictional death is something that should be celebrated and advertised. (And also that there is no need to read up on the other, like 18 mythological characters with identical lives)
The Ten Commandments
I don't need to explain this, George Carlin did that already. Also, remember when Jesus said 'fuck the old testament'? (paraphrase)
