I was watching the Congressional hearings today and several times they referred to the Nixon impeachment hearings. I watched the Nixon Impeachment back then, as it happened, I was 19 years old in 1974 and they were on TV every day. I turned 18 the year they ended the draft, but I still had to register and carry my draft card. Last night I binged the 2011 six part History Channel documentary series The Vietnam War in HD on Amazon Prime video. They showed the history of that conflict along with the Johnson and Nixon political era... It was a very different time and worth watching again to put that time in perspective... It is not pretty so be warned.

I was not so lucky as you, The draft ended the day after I enlisted to avoid the draft and being sent to Vietnam as cannon fodder. All draftees were being sent to the Army Calvary division, the grunts on the ground, so i decided that I would enlist in the Air Force where there was less shooting back at you.
