Impeached. Will he be removed? Highly unlikely. But at least there is accountability, even though he still remains.

No way he gets removed and therefore no accountability

@BookDeath well they will tout his acquittal. There are so many stains on his presidency this is just an additional one. Hopefully people were turnout for the election and maybe, just maybe, we can rebuild our stature in the world. And rebuild all he has torn down

There's a very good chance that enough repubs in the senate can read poll numbers and make the connection between supporting Trump unconditionally and losing thier seats. In the elections since the midterms - where they lost the house but gained slightly in the senate - just about everyone Trump has backed has lost.

The GOP is losing the suburbs and knows it, one of thier main single issue "hooks" - the way the NRA interprets the 2nd ammendment - is being questioned while that branch of political funding is drying up due to how the NRA mismanaged itself and is being outspent by gun control groups, the economy isn't doing as well as boasted about for your average Joe and/or Jane. Add to that the backlash emerging about the religious right and their influence starting to wane and it's not as dire as predicted. Close, though.

So there's a chance he'll be removed, but not a good one. If they don't remove him they can very well expect to lose the senate, though, as even more shit about his incompetence/cruelty/treasonous actions come to light.

Unfortuately, there are only 23 Republican senators coming up for re-election in 2020. They are the ones who would be the most nervous.

Assuming that all the Dems and the 2 Independents all vote to convict, that's only 47 votes.

A super-majority would need 20 more votes. I don't 20 out of the 23 geeking. Even if a few Republican Senators who are not up until 2022 or 2024 move to convict, that's still a very, very tight play.

It will be terribly interesting. Who's bringing the popcorn????

@LatentumCattus like i said, small chance to impeach but good chance to lose control of the senate.

Romney isn't up for reelection this cycle but has a shot at voting to convict. Collins stands a good chance of losing her bid for a few reasons and absolutely cannot afford to ignore her constituents like she did on Kavenaugh (sp). The votes could be there, and if it looks like anything but solid unity by the GOP it'll be a disaster for them - if thier own senators think he should be impeached what's that do to trumps reelection prospects?

@1of5 - Yes, that is true. It only takes 4 ousters next year to swing the Senate to a Democrat majority. Oh, next November is going to be wild.
