Yes, this is a beat-for-beat reboot of the original Star Wars, but even so, this is actually tied with Empire Strikes Back as my favorite of the franchise. Why? Because I actually find the characters of Rey, Poe, Finn and Kylo more interesting than Luke, Han, Leia and Darth Vader. (in the first one, Empire evens that out.) Rey in particular. I know she's gotten a bit of a rep of being a Mary Sue, but first off, Luke was blowing up death stars after two seconds worth of training and I was fine with that and second.....Luke starts off as BOOOOORRRRING. He's the typical farm-boy-makes good, whereas I get the impression Rey had to fight for what she had. Yeah, making her so force-sensitive was rushed, but it makes sense she'd know how to fight and be a fast learner. Again, Empire levels the playing field. The more Luke flirts with the dark side, the more interesting he becomes. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how Reys saga ends up in Rise of Skywalker.

Plus, Daisy Ridley knocks the role out of the park. And it was great to see Han, Chewie and Leia back.
