I grew up in the Assembly of God church where my mother was the pianist. Three generations of my mother's family had been members of that church. I remember feeling uncomfortable with the religion as young as 12, but it took much longer to become comfortable with the idea that I just didn't believe what they preached. But when I finally arrived in that comfort zone, I felt that I had been set free.
As a matter of fact, I seldom think about religion except when someone else brings it up. I play duplicate bridge two to four times a week, I always have a novel in progress, I have been active in the Master Gardener program for the last ten years. I put together the newsletters for the Bridge Center as well as the Master Gardener program. I usually go to dinner with a group of friends on Friday evening. In short, I stay pretty busy with activities that I enjoy. Lately, I've been knitting pussy hats while watching a series about Australia because I will travel there in May. My bridge partner, who is Australian, has made all sorts of plans for tours while we're there.
Good for you! We are raised in a fact-based system and can find no facts to justify our faith-based religion. Two thousand years is a long time to not hear from someone! At any rate, welcome to our group! I live in Riverside Park and walk every day. I would walk the cat, but he insists on watching the house! I like to watch the beaver! Held him in one hand when he was a baby!
