The fact that you don’t see a conversation that you have already participated in would mean one of several things. (1) The person had communications with other members that resulted in a complaint that lead to a moderator deleting the account and all communication. (2) The individual had second thoughts and blocked you. (3) The individual deleted his account. The fact that you had multiple experiences with some variation of Charlie seems to make number on the most likely. I don’t have any first hand knowledge about how this forum operates, but I’m basing my opinion from having moderated the Tascam Forums for a number of years. Any website that has a dating component built into it always attracts a certain number of predator males who have a standard come on that is just about cut and paste and focuses on physical beauty. Of course, being skeptical is perfectly acceptable. It is probably one of the characteristics that made you an Atheist.

And it just happened again. Damn. Someone writes me, talks about my looks, I tell them I don't like convos that are so vacuous, and my first impression was not good, and they disappear the next day, along with their conversations. From now on, if your name is Charles (2 of the last 3) you are going to have to work to prove you aren't a troll LOL!

That is disappointing. Most of life is. But hey every once in a while it's amazing, eh?

A lot of people visit this site only once or twice and then give up and go away, perhaps they just get bored.

I am also told however, that this is especially a problem for women on the site, since many of the short term visitors are theist males, from fundamentalist congregations. Who have been repeatedly told by their church and preachers, that none religious people are all immoral and sexually depraved. They therefore sign up for this site in order to make contact with secular females, in order to fulfill curiosity or seek casual sex. When they find that what they were told is not true, they either, get bored and leave, or get kicked out after they misbehave. Personally I have not seen many such, but that could be because I am male. The best thing to do is to contact some of the senior female members for advice if this becomes troublesome.

They've probably done excately what they've done to you (make the hair on the back of your neck stand up) to other members and been reported and banned, or they blocked you so you couldn't report them.

Edit: once someone blocks you it's kinda hard to tell, but whomever responded before me has me blocked. Note how in the pic it only shows my comment and says 1 comment, but the little green bar should say double points for first comment.

Perhaps best a question for admin who is probably deleting them after getting complaints...
