We are now at emergency level for the bush fires. The army personnel are knocking on peoples doors in the southern suburbs warning them to be prepared to evacuate. I am house/dog sitting my son's dog in the northern suburbs.

Thank you, since then we have had a lot of rain, actually now it is flooding in some parts.
Does it do any good to hose down homes and greenery far and wide away from your property ??

When it is 42 C/107F no hosing down helps, within 5 minutes it is all dry. But this too will pass, I can feel it in my bones.
