Before the election, I can imagine him canceling it if there was some obvious excuse for canceling it and he thought he might lose. In either case I still think it's a damned unlikely scenario at this point. The oligarchs and generals running America NEED elections to maintain the pretense that we're still a democracy. People might actually notice and object to an overt dictatorship.

@Bushshaker Modern media is very sophisticated, it's a product fine tuned for their selected market demographic. Goebbels never dreamed the power of propaganda could be so scientific and effective.
I think such an attempt would result in the 25th amendment being invoked. If it doesn't, if his enablers back it, and if it gets through SCOTUS, then we'll have a military coup. I know and have spoke to several vets... including my mom, a close friend, people on this site. It's something that would definitely rub them the wrong way.
