I go by the premise that men wants commitment, love, and permanence in monogamous marriages as much as women do. However, men have been programmed historically to be strong, silent, and "pain resistant" rather than be open to feelings or any signs of self-perceived "weakness" to women. I try to break through these learned behaviors and try to let my emotion and feeling be my compass and guide. I find no weakness in being gentle and real. Why? Because of "Masculine Pretense." In fact, The male psychological defense, learned in childhood, has been associated with the heroic, stereotypical, "action-oriented" images of man inherent in his self-identity and public persona. Even though psychological needs appear to be surprisingly similar, men tend to hide them behind a rigid, prescribed social role often defended by 'face-saving' denials. I try to break through these brick walls that hold back a real mature male from finding true love and happiness.

And that is why men should be feminists too - the movement seeks to end those prescribed social roles, which will improve life for all of us.
