Just saw some Romney associate on MSDNC talk about Romney's faith guiding his impeachment vite. He shared he was also Mormon (thought they prefer to be identified as Latter-Day Saints) and went on, to my ears, to use his time to plug Mormonism, playing up the integrity demonstrated by Mitt's vote. What rubbed me the wrong way, prompting this post, was his statement of, "Some would call it the first 'American' religion." I guess it's pretty easy to overlook the genocide committed against the original inhabitants when the colonizers overwhelm them and their culture.

His pride over its newness reminds me of a movie scene (The Jerk?).

(Paraphrased from memory) "Look how old this wine is, don't you have any fresh stuff?"

And as far as its American pedigree being a selling point... well, there's one born every minute.
